Those familiar with the Jabul Ruins Dungeon know the name Vocavor, the behemoth fish that commands the waves. To beat this formidable foe, preparation is key. Here, we’ll outline the secrets to defeating Vocavor.
Phase 1
The battle begins with a familiar foe – the large fish that Vocavor creates. As it swims up and down, it generates a vortex attack that targets anything it touches. Use this opportunity to dodge while keeping an eye on its movements. When the Vortex attack subsides, Vocavor will pause and summon Chompfin.
Chompfin, while not a formidable opponent itself, is vulnerable to blue electric attacks. Use Chompfin to attack this weak point, and down it will go. Boss defeated, Vocavor succumbs to its wounds and enters Phase 2.
Phase 2
In Phase 2, Vocavor creates two middle platforms, draining the surrounding water. You’ll want to stay submerged to avoid the increased frequency of the Vortex attacks. Avoid getting too close to the platforms, as Vocavor will not hesitate to swoop in and attack from above.
Summon flying creatures like Gai or Needlefly to aid in the battle. Using Sword Fighter mode, dash in and out of attacks to whittle down its health. When the fight reaches its climax, attack the blue electric orbs and exploit its weak points. With each orb destroyed, Vocavor’s health drains further.
Tips
- Avoid getting too close to Vocavor, lest you suffer the wrath of its Vortex attacks or its aerial assault.
- Use Chompfin as a makeshift shield to take the brunt of attacks, and then strike Vocavor’s weak points while it’s stunned.
- Don’t forget to prioritize the blue electric orbs! Destroying them will release valuable resources and weaken the boss.

Upon defeating Vocavor, you’ll be rewarded with a full heart container, 5 Mite Crystals, and a character level-up. The cleared dungeon is just the beginning – explore Hyrule for more secrets, dungeons, and bosses to conquer.
